COMING 3/26/24: A Reading of "Shoehorn" by The Oregon Symphony!

from Blue Whale Press  an imprint of Clear Fork Publishing

Credit two women for the successful birthing of "Shoehorn." Alayne Kay Christian, Editor of Blue Whale Press, deserves top billing as she is the one who breathed life into this baby. And the gifted Melizza Chernov (below) transformed it into the adorable looking creature it is today.

Want to see (and hear) the story behind how A HORN IS BORN was born? It's a 30-minute video with Alayne and Melizza and myself talking through the long delivery process. I don't blame you if you've got better things to do. But, hey, if you're house-bound with the flu, here's the link: https://youtu.be/4ZB_ZVR7TOQ

Illustrator, Melizza Chernov

A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, Melizza is inspired by the quirky and unusual. From growing up in project housing in Queens, to her current countryside life in Massachusetts, she has always loved the natural world.

See more of her work at melizzachernov.com.

Read it!

Two Ways:

1) Get a magnifying glass and follow along.

Your eyesight going out? Here's the gist: An old shoehorn lives in a backstage dressing room and puts up with constant teasing from the real, musical horns.

But fate flips the tables with one lucky break.

2) get your own copy.(Preferable)

Order from an independent bookstore like Powell's here.

(Or one of the online biggies. But please be patient--it's popular, so sometimes there's a wait.)
